Culprit No. 3 Two Backswing NO-NOs:
Fake Turn and Overswing
Let’s examine Culprit No. 2:
Culprit No.2 NO DISTANCE » LACK OF WRIST HINGE
Lack of wrist hinge can be the result of a poor grip, tension, your takeaway or simple awareness.
LACK OF HINGE = POWER FAILURE!
In the NO swing: The angles in my wrists are minimal. You need wrist hinge; otherwise, you will have nothing to release through the impact zone!
In the YES swing: I am fully hinged at the top of my backswing as noted by the inverted L. Wrist hinge is released through impact. It is your power source!
SOLUTION: As you address the ball, grip the club lightly and waggle your wrists, making sure they remain loose. If you are death-gripping the club, it will be difficult to hinge. Some find it helpful to visualize holding a waiter’s tray at the top of your backswing where your right palm is facing the sky.
