How to Hit a Fade
Shaping the shot is a part of the game where the pros excel. The good news is that we, too, can master shaping shots! It is all in your set up. Keep in mind that a fade tends to go higher and has less roll. A FADE is a controlled slice.
Your objective: Strike the ball first {as you should with any shot}, except here it’s a must or bust!
Aim the clubface to your intended target.
Now, open your stance, meaning aim your feet, hips, and shoulders LEFT of your intended target line.
Tee the ball slightly lower than you normally would to promote a descending blow. This tends to put a left-to-right spin on the ball.
Now make your normal swing. The path of the club will be more out-to-in, promoting a left-to-right ball flight.
A fade is ideal to use on a dog-leg right.
