Tough Bunker Shots » Quick Height

No green and seriously close to the edge…oh my!

Key Point: The purpose of an out-to-in set up is to promote a slight out-to-in path. This will produce a high, soft flight with stopping power.

Choke down on the club. OPEN your stance and clubface to promote high and soft. Play the ball just ahead of center and take a wider stance to encourage quiet legs.

Make a three-quarter backswing with lots of wrist hinge. Grip pressure is light to promote a tension-free swing. Be sure to accelerate through the shot. The keys with this shot are lots of sand, zero tension, and good acceleration. On your follow-through, the clubface remains open; producing that high, soft shot.

I like a super-loose grip pressure to ensure zero tension. Tension kills high, soft efforts.
