Swing Style Match-Ups

Swing Style Match-Ups

There are two primary swing styles that players fall into: Releasing the club with more body rotation or releasing the club with more forearm rotation. Which swing style is best for you? There is no cookie-cutter one-size-fits-all swing. Every player is unique. There are two main styles:

Style 1: Less Body Rotation

A player who does not rotate their hips/torso as much pairs well with a neutral or slightly weak grip. Why? Less rotation requires more forearm rotation to square the face. If the grip is too strong, the ball may hook.

Style 2: More Body Rotation

A strong body rotator pairs well with a stronger grip. Why? Rotation by nature opens the face. The stronger grip offsets that.

Grip Considerations

A weaker grip requires more forearm rotation to square the face. A stronger grip requires less forearm rotation to square the face.
