L to L Drill
for hinge & release

dots

When I was struggling with hinge and release, my instructor recommended the L to L drill.

A deliberate effort to create the must-have Ls in our swing, both in the back and through-swing. So grab a wedge and work on your L to Ls. Take practice swings feeling the L created by the shaft and your arms. Make a deliberate effort to make them crisp, not sloppy Ls.

The more crisp you can make the Ls, the better the result. I don’t mean rigid. Loose hands, arms and shoulders are key to producing successful Ls. Essentially, you are allowing the club to do what it wants to do, which is hinge… and unhinge. Work on this at your course for better contact and more distance with all your clubs in the bag.

So let’s get to it!
