Our golf game begins as we get dressed. We envision a glorious day spent smacking a little white ball with our friends.
As we carefully select the right top to match our skort or slacks, we top off our fashionable outfit with the right hat, shoes, and jewelry that won’t inhibit our playing, such as dangling earrings. And lastly, we get to the course with enough time to prep for the round.
We call this Pre-Tee-Off; an important and often neglected step to good golf.
Let’s get to it!Let’s face it, ripping the ball straight down the middle sets the round off on the right foot!
In this section, we will explore must-know essentials and tools you need to not only rip it down the middle, but also must-know set ups to get you there. To rip it, you’ll learn the power zappers off the tee in the “I Want More Distance Now!!!” section.
And just in case you are down to your last ball, you’ll enjoy the BAD SHOT FIXES.
Let’s get to it!With a show of hands…how many of you want more distance? ME! I WANT MORE! YES, ABSOLUTELY! OH YEAH…GIVE ME DISTANCE.
…Exactly.
We all want more distance. Especially when we see our pals blowing it by us or getting that beautiful high launch that is elusive to our clubs. And, it can be embarrassing, to boot.
Get ready to kick that embarrassing ball a mile-and-a-half down the fairway and then for your bonus…onto that green…in regulation. Yep. Let’s get you savvy on what makes that ball fly. Understanding the power principles, we’ll get you striping it sooner rather than later.
So, let’s get to it!
Let’s get to it!
Solid contact from the fairway is such a treat. The goal is to make this a common occurrence, instead of those thin, fat, and low-worm-burners-that-go-nowhere occurrences.
In order to achieve GIRs {Greens in Regulation}, you must have a consistent set up and execution. In this section, we’ll do just that; get you equipped with solid fundamentals from the fairway.
We’ll also address those BAD SHOTS from the fairway: thin, fat, and no distance shots!
Let’s get to it!Inside this section, we take a journey off the short hairs and into some rough areas.
The goal, when faced with shots off the fairway, is to first carefully assess the situation; look up, down, and all around, so you can make an educated decision.
The goal, of course, is to get your ball back on to the short hairs in one shot; preferably a flat lie with a good angle for your next shot.
Let’s get to it!Let’s face it, we often miss the fairway and end up off the short hairs.
That’s what makes golf fun! If we all striped it down the middle, golf would get dull. Plus, we would not have the opportunity to get creative from the rough, trees, fairway bunkers, and other areas deemed off the short hairs. In this section, you’ll also learn how to shape the shot off the tee and from the short hairs.
The more you know, the more creative you can be!
Let’s get to it!I was watching an LPGA golf event on the television. I heard Cristie Kerr tell her caddie that she’s is going for the greenside bunker as her miss.
I thought to myself, “What? Is she crazy!!”
Apparently, the bunker for golf pros is pretty simple. For us recreational players, not so much. Let’s change that now and get you equipped with solid fundamentals from the sand.
Let’s get to it!Golf is brutal with our mind. It literally has no mercy.
It doesn’t matter what you do off the course, how powerful you are, how confident you are, or how good you are at tennis. Golf is the ultimate challenge, which I believe is one of its major draws; why many say it is an addictive sport. And it is! It tests you on every level and when you rise to the occasion…bliss…pure bliss.
So, let’s go get that bliss now!
Let’s get to it!The pros are amazing players in my book. They all strike the ball, beautifully. What separates the pros from those who consistently finish in the Top 10 is the short game and the space between the ears; the mental part of the game.
The good news for us recreational players is that everyone goes through nerves, jitters, bad swing days, and shots that don’t behave. But here is where the difference lies with pros and amateurs: The pros spend 80 percent of their time working on the short game and putting.
We spend 90 percent of our time banging balls. Case closed.
Let’s get to it!It’s amazing, more than 50 percent of our strokes during a round are right here on the putting surface.
If your goal for the season is to shave 4 to 5 strokes off your handicap, then spend all of your time here! The essential key elements of great putting are confidence, commitment, good tempo, and a quiet body; especially the head.
We’ll explore it all. So, let’s get to it!
Let’s get to it!Bad shots happen. They are a part of golf. Once you get that, then bad shots are not as catastrophic, which is a good thing. On the flip side, who the heck wants to hit poor shots: left, right, low, nowhere, 10-feet past the hole, skull, chunk, duff…
…aghhhhhhh HELP!
BAD SHOT FIXES to the rescue! You’re in good hands, so don’t you worry your little self. Instead, let’s get you on your way to straight, center-cut, long solid…
So, let’s get to it.
Let’s get to it!When we hear the word “Drills,” we think of work. Work is no fun.Instead, let’s change this perspective. Drills are fun! Why are they fun, you ask? Because…they help us improve at the game of golf and that means more pars. And more pars is definitely more fun! So let’s get to work…oops …I mean let’s get to that fun now!
Drills & PracticeThe Rules of Golf are an intimidating part of the game. They are often cryptic. And let’s face it, we’ve already got too much to deal with like trying to hit the dang ball and get it in the hole. Now they throw in this rules stuff!
Gee whiz.
Well, that’s the way the cookie crumbles. Before you crumble to your knees in the face of not knowing the rules or etiquette, let’s get you on the fast track right now. The rules will cover are the ones that you will encounter again and again.
And at the risk of breaching a rule or falling pray to poor etiquette, which would no doubt result in utter embarrassment, let’s get on with it.
Let’s Get to It!
Welcome to the wonderful world of golf. You have embarked on a journey like no other. Golf is more than a game; it is a lifestyle.
A lifestyle that can be enjoyed at any age and level. You’ve probably even heard accolades from your pals about their experience. The pars they’re making. The balls they’re hitting center-face…the fun they’re having. I’ll tell you the truth…there is nothing quite like that pure strike of a golf ball. It’s true bliss, and this bliss, resulted in your pal or maybe your significant other poking you to pick up the stick.
Well my friend…get ready for some fun and some blissful balls coming your way soon…very soon.
