FIRST-TEE JITTERS happens to us all.
The best method to alleviate this powerful nerve emotion is to find your center, as they do in meditation. Not to get too deep on you, but it works. It’s all in your breath. BREATHE AND BREATHE SLOWLY until you find a natural rhythm. From there, all you need to do is FOCUS on the target from tee to green. Focus alleviates nerves. It takes your mind off of fear.
DO YOU KNOW YOUR YARDAGES WITH EACH CLUB?
Use this to your advantage by getting the yardage to the flagstick, front of the green, and back of the green. Sometimes hitting to the front of the green and letting the ball roll to the hole is a wiser decision. However, you can only do this if you know your yardages with each club.
If you don’t have this club-to-yardage connection, start now. Even if you are new to the game. All you need to do is get a range finder and begin logging your yardages with all your clubs. You’ll begin to see a pattern. In order to score and to avoid trouble, you need to know how far you hit each club.
