The purpose of warming up around the green before a round is to find your feel and tempo for the day.
Every day is different. So don’t expect the same feel as last time. Warm-up with a variety of shots around the green. Select shots you think you’ll need on the course. Good ones are chips from the fringe, high-and-soft shots from the rough, low runners, and sand shots. Practice ups-and-downs. Why? The goal of practice is to simulate course conditions, so you can score better out on the course.
