For more consistency with speed, make sure you have zero tension in your hands, arms or shoulders.
Relax your arms so there is a slight bend.
Be careful of tense, super-straight arms at set up. This will create tension and affect contact and distance control. Soft arms are key for a smooth tempo. And bend from your hip joints, not your waist, to allow your arms to hang freely.
When mirroring your back and through-stroke, ensure that your arms are relaxed and not rigid. A rigid stroke will make it a challenge to lag it close.
