Yikes! My ball landed in the rough on a steep slope.
I am getting a yardage, which is 89 to the pin. I am going with my PW, my 100-yard club because I know that I will be swinging at 80 percent…and maybe even less…considering the severity of the slope. In this scenario, more club is a wise choice.
I have selected a land spot well left of the pin to accommodate for the severity of the slope. The ball will always follow the slope. So in this scenario, the ball will travel left to right.
With a ball well below your feet, I’ll need to bend considerably more to reach the ball. I take a few practice swings to get comfy with the lie. With the severity of this slope, I will swing at 70 percent of my normal swing speed. Staying in the shot and in balance is critical with these types of lies where the margin of error is minimal.
I finish in balance and in my posture, and the result…not bad!
