Culprit No. 3 Fast Tempo with a Splash of Tension
Let’s examine Culprit No. 3:
Culprit No.3 SLICES & HOOKS » FAST TEMPO
Fast tempo and tension wreak havoc on your swing’s natural sequence, making it very difficult to square the face. Fast tempo produces an out-of-sync sequence. Here, my hips have outraced my hands, a result of a lunge forward with my hips. I will most likely hit this ball thin!
Fast tempo can produce out-of-control results! It is very difficult to control the club if your tempo is fast, often resulting in a club beyond parallel.
A popular culprit among women, overswinging provides a false sense of power. A fast tempo during your takeaway can produce out-of-control results. A slower-paced backswing allows you to feel the top of it, so you can make a smooth transition into the downswing.
SOLUTION: A great drill to slow tempos and expedite swing changes is with a splash of Tai Chi!
