The flop shot was made famous by the legendary Phil Mickelson!
Set up to the ball with an open stance and clubface. My legs are quieter in this swing, so I like to take a wider stance for more stability.
Because you are essentially sliding the club under the ball, similar in theory to a sand shot, you’ll need to take a generous backswing and accelerate through with super soft hands to generate good clubhead speed. The ball will roll up the face, sail high, and land soft. Keep your lower half quiet to allow the hands to pass freely.
Accelerate on the downswing, sliding the club under the ball. A tension-free approach is your best chance for success!
